So Much to Be Thankful For

Updated: Jan 3, 2021

I just want to say Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Thank you so much for being faithful, loyal, dedicated customers and clients.

We are so blessed and so thankful for each and every one of you, especially through these difficult times of uncertainty and high emotions.

We have to remember the things that are important, and that’s one another.

So, we just want to take the time to thank everybody for investing in Modern Tekniques.

For coming and getting your hair done for all these years - we’ve been open 7 years now.

For staying by our side as we navigate all these new changes.

For helping us to welcome 5 new members to our team.

We are so grateful, for joining us in celebrating the unity and progress of Modern Tekniques.

So, what is there to be thankful for?

I think we even have to go as far as recognizing the small simple things in life,

And just be thankful that we have lungs to breathe.

That we have feet to stand and walk.

That we have all our of hands, fingers, and toes.

That we have a mouth to eat,

Eyes to see,

A nose to smell,

Ears to hear.

We are so blessed beyond measure. So much more than we often realize.

Over the years I’ve undergone several mission trips to orphanages in foreign countries.

And let me tell you, we have abundance here in America.

My first mission trip ever, was to Russia, and it was devastating.

What I experienced that trip, and on my trip to Nicaragua and 3 trips to Haiti hurt my heart to see, but also taught me so much about how much we often take for granted.

I truly think that we are in a land of plenty, considering how little others really do have.

And I think that we’re always maybe focusing on what we don’t have,

and that’s where we have to make the shift in our minds.

We have to learn to focus on the things that we do have, because we truly have so much.

That is what will bring joy to your heart.

That’s the whole point and reason of being thankful,

Having a thankful heart,

A thankful mind.

Being thankful for the small things.

So that you realize that you have so much to be grateful for.

Much more than you think,

More than many other people have.

Let’s really celebrate this Thanksgiving, with just being thankful for life.

For the gift and the presence of life that we have.

For our incredible bodies, hearts, and minds.

I know it can be such a hard thing to think about right now, with COVID and all the other struggles we might be experiencing.

My heart goes out to all of those who have lost a loved one this year, due to COVID or any other reason. I’m so sorry that so many have experienced such hardship.

We can’t change the world; we can only do our best to change ourselves.

This means doing what we can to improve our circumstances, our environment, our mindset, and our daily practices.

One of the best things that we can do in times like these is grow our mind.

The mind is our greatest gift when it comes to celebrating life, using our memories and imagination to connect to and reminisce upon all the wonderful Thanksgivings we’ve been able to enjoy in the past.

I know it’s frustrating that we can’t all celebrate with all of our family members right now, as we’re all trying our best to keep each other safe and adapt to all the changes.

But, let’s use our minds to be thankful for the many years of celebrations that we have been able to spend with our families. Utilize our imaginations and memories to feel close to the ones we love.

The ups and downs of life are like mountains and valleys.

We always have to know that there will always be the highs of the mountains, and the lows of the valleys.

Dark valleys that we’re going to have to go though, because they are a part of life.

Just try to allow those valleys to bring you strength.

To help you to grow.

Often, if we don’t experience struggle, we may take things for granted and never really realize how much there is for us to appreciate, and how great our life really is.

Happy Thanksgiving and lots of love to you all,

Kimmy
